I actually have speakers wired throughout the house and I still went with Sonos because it's just so good.Nice features that finally sold me:* The (free) iPhone control app. Wow. It doesn't stream from the phone so your phone can, well, be your phone.SONOS SERVICE. Nationwide and even worldwide station are just as easily accessible.* Pandora & the radio run controlled by the iPhone and the computer can be shut off. Let me repeat that. Plus, once the controller starts the music playing, the iPhone can be switched to another app or put to sleep. Sonos tech support offers evening & weekend hours and the service rep was in California rather than overseas.
He spoke English. Convenience is king. So easy. Can't wait to buy more zones. he spoke English. When a remote is turned on, it is already aware of the current status of the system and can take control of parts or all of the system.* Playing anyone's iTunes library and playlists is easy.* Pandora works great and allows for thumbs up & down (though I wish there was an on-screen indicator to show you've already given a song a thumbs up).* Local radio access is pretty impressive. The wireless system is obviously advantageous for the ease of installation and the portability should you move, but the function is actually better than any other home audio system I tried. This convinced me to finally take the plunge.
Essentially every local (Kansas City) radio station is available and easily accessible. Excellent. In the initial setup, I had an issue with Sonos seeing my music library (iTunes on my hard drive), otherwise setup was a breeze. They have a simple remote access system so he made the firewall changes himself as I watched. The Sonos system really is something to behold. All 4 of us in the house have our own iPhone and therefore we are always carrying the Sonos remote at all times. It ultimately was a firewall issue.
Now that I've seen the device and listed to the sound I think my vacuum tubes amplifier has to trade places for this ZP120. The looks are great and installing this Sonos system is so easy my 5 year old could have pulled it off.I simply love Sonos and my next buys will be a remote control and two S5 devices for the kitchen and bedroom. After buying a ZP90 first, I just bought a ZP120 as well for my attic I thought. The sound is incredible for it's size.
It is a must have if you have a large digital music collection. After owning a Sonos for 4+ years I wouldn't want to own a home without one. The add-on zone players are a necessity for those wanting to have extra sets of speakers in other rooms.
What can I say that hasn't been said.the sonos system is awesome.works great.have never had it "cut out" on me when playing.user friendly EASY to set up.Awesome.
While they are not cheap, they are just fantastic and, like an Apple product, they *just work*. I continue to be blown away. I've purchased 3 of these ZonePlayers now, and use them with the iPhone app from Sonos. I understand a bit about the technology that goes into these -- they are really just a internet-connected computer with an amp built in -- but it is really amazing how simple and fool-proof they made this product.
